15 Apr Your taxes are not due today
- Emancipation Day is an official public holiday in the District of Columbia. It usually falls on April 16, but when April 16 is a Saturday – which it is in 2016 – then Emancipation Day moves to the previous day (Friday).
- Residents of Maine and Massachusetts get an extra day because the IRS offices in those states are closed on Patriots’ Day (April 18, 2016).
So, if you thought you had waited until the last minute today, you have a few more days to procrastinate. See the full IRS explanation here.

Special thanks to Alzheimer’s Resources of Alaska for their hospitality yesterday. As I travel to give business speeches, I also try to reach out and spread the word – we all need to be prepared for Alzheimer’s with a healthy diet and exercise, retirement savings, Long Term Care insurance, and full communication with our loved ones. Need more? Read Surviving Alzheimer’s with Friends, Facebook, and a Really Big Glass of Wine.
