Your taxes are not due today

2016_tax_calendar_returns_due_april_18Your 2015 tax return is not due until Monday, April 18th this year. If you live in Maine or Massachusetts, it is not due until Tuesday, April 19th. From the IRS:

  • Emancipation Day is an official public holiday in the District of Columbia. It usually falls on April 16, but when April 16 is a Saturday – which it is in 2016 – then Emancipation Day moves to the previous day (Friday).
  • Residents of Maine and Massachusetts get an extra day because the IRS offices in those states are closed on Patriots’ Day (April 18, 2016).

So, if you thought you had waited until the last minute today, you have a few more days to procrastinate. See the full IRS explanation here.

You’re welcome,

Chief Tipster Dayna Steele

As I travel to give business speeches, I also try to reach out and spread the word – we all need to be prepared for Alzheimer’s with a healthy diet and exercise, retirement savings, Long Term Care insurance, and full communication with our loved ones.
