01 Nov Look into your crystal ball
People spend more time planning a vacation than their career or retirement. Think ahead to how you want to live when you retire, where you want to be, what sort of income you will need including social security (if it is still around), savings and possibly a pension. Now, work backwards from there: what do you need to do to make a living now that will also allow you to save money for this end goal. No, this is not easy but it will be at the end if you do the work it takes now.
Just think how much that dinner out tonight would help if you put that money in savings instead and didn’t touch it for years…
So much of success is in the plan and looking several steps ahead like a chess player. If you need help starting, check out Dave Ramsey and his Seven Baby Steps. Again, this takes time and discipline, it may take a few years, but it is so worth it in the long run. When you have the freedom to do what you want when you want where you want with whom you want – that’s success. That’s being a Rock Star.
