Facebook is not your birthright

Screenshot 2015-09-29 09.07.40If you don’t feel safe on Facebook, get off. Yet another Facebook hoax is making the rounds. If you have posted the recent better safe than sorry disclaimer on this social media behemoth, delete it now. It makes you look ill informed, out-of-touch, and, well, ridiculous. Stop it. Yay to my wonderful sister-in-law who posted the parody shown here. Now, just to clear up a few things:

  1. Facebook needs access to your camera and phone if you want to share anything
  2. How you set your security is up to YOU
  3. Most apps have access to your camera and/or mic in order to work properly
  4. Facebook is not going to start charging you
  5. Facebook has every right to charge you
  6. Welcome to American capitalism
