If I asked you for a business card right now, do you have one? I broke one of my own rules at TEDxHouston last week – I walked around this event full of some of the most amazing people I have ever been around in one place and did not have my cards. Sporting a sprained ankle meant I could not just run to the back and grab something. I missed more opportunities to connect later on with some of these amazing people because I did not have a card or guitar pick (my other card) in my pocket. Check your wallet, check your cardholder, check your purse, check your pocket, whatever – do you have business cards with you right now?

One of the best questions you can ask someone when you meet him or her is, “So, what do you do?” Meetings, chance encounters, sitting next to someone on a plane, the taxi driver, anyone – you will discover amazing stories and potential incredible partnerships.
