04 Nov When it happens to you, be prepared
The shooting Friday at the Los Angeles airport, the finish line of the Boston Marathon, your plane lands in the Hudson or maybe something as simple as losing your backpack or briefcase – would you be prepared if anything like this happened to you? Could you function with just the phone in your pocket? What if you lost that too? I could lose it all in the next hour, buy a used mobile phone, sign into my account and immediately access all my information, files, calendar, contacts, everything. Before anything does happen, set yourself up to be able to move forward with information for business and life – no matter what the situation. It may take you a couple of days to learn the systems but in the event of an ‘event,’ you will be happy you did.
Be safe and prepared,
My phone, tablet and laptop are all synced thru Apple and backed up to an external hard drive when I am in the office. I can sit on a curb anywhere and access my files via Dropbox (which I also back up to that external hard drive when in the office). Not only in an emergency or much-needed situation but also when a client or meeting planner requests something from me – I do not have to wait to get back to the office, I can pull off to the side of the road and send that file from Dropbox within seconds….while the competition is still driving back to his or her office. Get 5GB on Dropbox for free here. Or check out Google Drive, iCloud or any other number of services. Just do it.
